Terms and conditions

1. Legal Agreement
By applying to a Humanite volunteer program, participants enter into a binding legal agreement with the organization, which is governed by Indian law.

2. Work Hours and Expectations
Volunteers are expected to follow the local working schedule, typically up to 8 hours per day, 5–6 days a week. Flexibility is expected from both the volunteer and the organization.

3. Accommodation and Meals
Humanite provides accommodation and meals during the placement period only. These are not provided during personal travel or time away from the project. Overnight guests are not permitted without prior approval.

4. Insurance Requirements
Participants must secure their travel and medical insurance, which should cover medical emergencies, repatriation, liability, accidents, and baggage loss.

5. Complaints and Disciplinary Action
Complaints should first be addressed locally. If unresolved, they can be escalated to the Head Office. Misconduct (e.g., absenteeism, drunkenness, or unprofessional behavior) may result in formal disciplinary actions, including repatriation at the participant’s cost.

6. Amendments and Cancellations
Changes to start dates, locations, or durations are allowed with no amendment fees (except in group programs), though additional costs may apply. Cancellation fees increase as the departure date approaches, and refunds are at Humanite’s discretion.

7. Overstay and Payment Policies
Participants who stay beyond the agreed placement period will be charged a daily fee for continued accommodation and support. Full payment is due three months before departure unless otherwise agreed.

8. Liability and Risk
Volunteers participate at their own risk. Humanite is not responsible for issues caused by third parties or external events like natural disasters or political unrest. Paid work is strictly prohibited under the visa conditions.

9. Program Changes and Participant Removal
Humanite reserves the right to change or cancel placements for safety or operational reasons. The organization may also remove any participant if necessary for the safety or well-being of others or the program.

10. Data Privacy
Personal information is shared only within Humanite’s global network and is never used for marketing or sold to third parties.
