Heritage Conservation – Sampangi Lake/Karaga Pond

The Sampangi Lake, a prominent water body in Bengaluru. Over time, urban development led to the lake’s transformation into what is now the Kanteerava Stadium complex. Despite this change, a small pond within the former lake’s vicinity continues to serve as the sacred site for the festival’s water rituals, maintaining an unbroken tradition that underscores the community’s reverence for water. 

Humanite has played a crucial role in restoring the Karaga Pond, ensuring that this historically significant water body remains a vital part of Bengaluru’s cultural and ecological heritage. Through dedicated conservation efforts and  restoration, Humanite not only preserves a sacred ritual site but also revives the local ecosystem, demonstrating Humanite’s commitment to sustainable urban water management.
